Lion Rock and Cave Temples of Sri Lanka – 7 Days
Day 1: Colombo / Airport – Kandy – Dambulla
Arrival in Sri Lanka, you will be met by our representative on arrival and transferred to Kandy, En route visit Pinnawala elephant orphanage, the best time to visit is the feeding time from 09:30 - 10:00 hrs and 13:30 - 14:00 hrs and the bathing time from 10:00 - 10:30 hrs and 14:00 - 14:30 hrs when all the elephants are taken to the river close by.

Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple an isolated rock mass 500 feet high and a mile around the base. In the first cave is a recumbent image of the Buddha 47 ft long cut out of the rock. In the second cave, the finest and the largest of all, there are 150 life-size statues of the Buddha in various postures with few statues of gods and kings. The ceiling is also covered with frescoes, which depict great events in the life of the Buddha and landmarks in the history of the Sinhalese people. Dinner & overnight.
Day 2: Dambulla - Trincomalee
Breakfast. We shall proceed to Trincomalee, En route visit Sigiriya - Lion Rock an “UNESCO World Heritage Site” and the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky” which is perhaps the most fantastic single wonder of the Island. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the Palace on the summit of the 600-foot high rock.

Proceed to Trincomalee is one of the largest and safest Natural Harbors in the world. It has sunny weather throughout the year, with white sandy beaches, calm, placid and warm waters, ideal for underwater activities and for whale watching. There are 7 hot spring at Kanniyai just 5 miles away on the Anuradhapura road. See Thiriyai Wata-da-ge one of the best monuments in Sri Lanka.

Koneshwara Temple according to an inscription found on the doorway to the Fortress this temple was destroyed by the Portuguese in the 16 century A.D. they threw all the columns down to the sea below. Three bronze statues were brought up by divers found among the columns in the sea and are now kept in the modern temple at the same place. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Trincomalee - Pasikudha
Breakfast at the hotel & then proceed to Pasikudha, check in and rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight.
Day 4: Pasikudha
After breakfast, we shall proceed for Pasikudha which is known to have one of the longest stretches of shallow reef coastline in the world. People walk kilometers into the sea because the water is only a few inches deep and the current is relatively weak compared to the rest of Sri Lanka's coasts. Dinner & overnight.
Day 5: Pasikudha - Kandy
After breakfast, we shall proceed for Kandy city tour which is an other “World Heritage Site”. It was the last stronghold of the Sinhalese Kings and also one of the most sacred sites in the home of the “Dalada Maligawa” - Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.

Today the Kandy city tour will include the visit to the Kandy temple, Peradeniya botanical garden, Cultural show, Gem museum & gem shop, Kandy city tour. In the evening the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Return back to hotel. Dinner & overnight.
Day 6: Kandy – Colombo
Breakfast at the hotel & then proceed to Colombo the business and commercial center of Sri Lanka. Visit fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea street - the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the bazaar area where there is also a hindu temple with elaborate stone carvings, the Kayman’s gate with the belfry at the original gate to enter the fort. Then rest of the day is free for shopping. Check into your hotel. Dinner & overnight.
Day 7: Colombo - Airport (BIA) / Colombo
Breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
