Overview: At 10.46am, on Tuesday 3rd February 1931, a massive Richter 7.8 earthquake struck Napier, and subsequent fires destroyed most of its commercial heart. Napier was rebuilt in the Art Deco styles of the 1930s. Your guide will tell you about Napier's architectural history and unique Art Deco style with Maori motifs, as you stroll through the vibrant city centre. Walkers receive an informative Art Deco Walk booklet. End at the Art Deco Trust, for an optional 30 minute movie about Napier's history. Enjoy complimentary refreshments afterwards.
