Overview: Petra, the fabled "rose red city, half as old as time", is a well known ancient Nabataean city in the south of Jordan. Due to its breathtaking grandeur and fabulous ruins, Petra was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. In July 2007 the archeological site was chosen as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Overview: Visit Dana wildlife reserve 25 km south of Tafila with its rugged terrain. See ibex on the crags, mountain gazelle, in the lower areas, red foxes, badgers, porcupines, white wolves, hyrax, striped hyenas and jackals.
Overview: Take a safari tour in the vast, timeless, starkly beautiful and silent Wadi Rum. Enjoy a jeep ride for approximately 2 hours. Situated 120 km south of Petra this is one of Jordan's main tourist attractions, renowned for its stunning 720 sqkm of dramatic desert landscape. See huge mountains of sandstone and granite emerge from wide sandy valleys to reach heights of 1700 meters and more and narrow canyons and fissures cut deep into the mountains. Bedouin tribes still live here.
