Day 3: Dubrovnik - Trsteno and Ston - Split

Breakfast. Private transfer from Dubrovnik to Split, visiting Trsteno and Ston enroute. Visit Trsteno Arboretum (approx. 1.5 hrs) about 24 km (15 miles) from Dubrovnik, the setting in the Game of Thrones Seasons 3 & 4. It is mostly associated with the scenes involving the powerful family from the Reach, the Tyrells which made it earn the famous nickname the “Tyrell (High) Garden”. Aside from its Game of Thrones appeal, the Arboretum is truly a hidden gem, well worth a visit.

Visit Ston (approx. 1 hr). The 5 kilometre long defensive Walls of Ston, a small town some 60 kms west of Dubrovnik helped create the illusion of the walls of King’s Landing. Continue to Split (approx. 2.5 hrs). Arrive and check in. Rest of the evening is at leisure.

Overnight.

Day 4: Split, Klis & Trogir Game of Thrones Tour (approx 6 hrs)

Breakfast. Get to know filming locations while exploring Diocletian's Palace, the old centre of the city. Your local guide will tell you not only everything about filming locations but recall incredible tales of legend and local history. Many scenes in the Meereen took place in Diocletian’s Palace in Split. Daenerys’ throne is in the palace cellars. Proceed towards Klis fortress which represents the city of Meereen that Daenarys conquers. Your guide will tell you the history of the fortress.

Finally, visit Trogir, a tiny historic town with beautiful churches, palaces and narrow streets set within medieval walls. It is close to Split on Croatia’s Adriatic coast. The town doubles as the trading harbour of Qarth described as ‘The greatest city that ever was or will be’. St. Dominic’s Monastery houses many of the scenes shot in the town. Trogir featured in Season 2, Episode 6 ‘The Old Gods and the New’ where the Warlocks of Qarth stole Daenerys dragons and she finds her guards dead.

Day 5: Split - Sibenik and Krka National Park - Split

Breakfast. Transfer to Sibenik (approx 1.5 hrs) which first appeared in Game of Thrones in Season 5 representing the city of Braavos. The UNESCO World Heritage Site, St James Cathedral, doubles as The Iron Bank, the most powerful financial institution in the Free World. It’s in Season 5, Episode 9 ‘The Dance of Dragons’ where Ayra Stark abandons a mission for the Faceless Men and instead follows Mace Tyrell and Meryn Trant as they pay a visit to Tycho Nestoris to negotiate on the repayment of the crown’s massive debts.

Proceed to Krka National Park (approx. 30 mins) which is the backdrop to numerous outdoor scenes of Westeros. The cascading waterfalls are stunning. It featured in Season 4, Episode 3 ‘Breaker of Chains’ when Arya and the Hound cross the Riverlands. Return to Split.

Day 6: Split - Day at Leisure

Breakfast. Today is day at leisure. Choose from optional tour of the Blue Cave, Hvar and Pakleni islands excursion from Split (approx. 8 hrs) - SIC basis. End your day with a stroll through the quaint streets of Hvar Town, lined with Venetian palaces, a palm-dotted seafront, and bustling squares. On her conquest of Slaver’s Bay, a shocked and angered Daenerys took comfort in the magnificent seaside view that was laid in front of her. Meet the sunniest place in Europe, the lovely island of Hvar, a perfect backdrop to the Game of Thrones. The island’s capital is an ancient town of the same name, rich with history and a thriving art scene.
