Hue

Hue Discovery

Overview: Hue was the national capital until 1945, when Emperor Bao Dai of the Nguyen Dynasty abdicated and a communist government was established in Hanoi, in the north. Tour Dong Ba market, wander over to the Citadel. Within its 2 meter thick and 10 km long walls lie several of the city's best sights, from the many ornate pagodas to the Forbidden Purple City. Stop for a traditional lunch in a local nunnery. Take a short bus ride to a village that specializes in making incense. Continue to one of the impressive emperor's tombs. Visit Bao Quoc Pagoda, a temple complex perched on a hill overlooking the Perfume River. Head to Tiger Arena, where duels between elephants and tigers were arranged for the entertainment of the Emperor. End the day with a relaxing afternoon cruise along the Perfume River.

Tam Giang Lagoon and Beach

Duration: 7 Hours 30 Minutes
Overview: Take a bus to Quang Dien, past quaint villages. A bicycle is provided to explore the town, stopping to visit a traditional house to chat with the locals. Meet the kids at school before heading to the fields to learn about crops that are fundamental to the community. Lend a hand with the garden tasks, from watering the vegetables to harvesting produce. Enjoy a traditional lunch at a family home including seafood, vegetables and herbs. Hit the water with a sampan cruise on Tam Giang Lagoon. Call by a fish and prawn farm and try catching fish in the lagoon. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the shores of Quang Dien beach, known for its white sand and clear waters. If the water proves chilly, head inland to the hot springs near Thuan An beach.
