Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by your guide who will transfer you to your hotel.
Overnight.
Breakfast. After breakfast, take a tour around the city centre with various historical and colonial buildings partly by car or partly on foot. Visit the Sule Pagoda, a 2200-year-old temple, Maha Bandula Park where the Independent Monument stands, pass City Hall, Little India and Little China. Continue to Bogyoke Market, formerly known as Scott’s Market, and browse through the wide selection of Myanmar handicrafts and other goods (Note: closed on Mondays and public holidays).
Next, visit Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda, topped by a crown encrusted with diamonds and other precious stones. It houses one of Myanmar's more beautiful reclining buddhas, with feet carved with traditional symbols. End your day at Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the Wonders of the World, built 2500 years ago and enshrined with hair relics of Buddha. Enjoy breath-taking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point.
Overnight.
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Bagan (Nyaung Oo) on the banks of the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River. It is home to the largest and densest concentration of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas and ruins in the world, many dating from the 11th and 12th centuries.
Visit an elevated temple for a panoramic view of the magnificent plains of Bagan. Next, visit the golden Shwezigon Pagoda, a prototype monument, built in Myanmar style in 1087, Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple, Wetkyi-Inn Village well-known for its exquisite jataka mural paintings. Also visit the elegant Htilominlo Temple noted for its fine plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations.
In the afternoon, visit a traditional lacquerware workshop,and continue to Ananda Temple, an architectural masterpiece built in the early Mon-style. It contains two unique Buddha images whose expressions seem to change depending on the distance from which the statue is viewed. Travel by horse cart passing Thatbyinnyu, the highest temple in Bagan, massive Dhammayangyi Temple, noted for its remarkable brickwork, and Sulamani Temple. Enjoy an unforgettable sunset over the plains from the upper terrace of one of the temples.
Overnight.
After breakfast visit Nyaung Oo Market and continue to Myinkaba village to take a short walking tour to explore the temples of Manuha and Nan Paya. Explore more temples in the area, visit craft shops or return to your hotel.
This afternoon, visit the rural village of Minnanthu, one of Bagan’s least visited areas. Explore temples such as Payathonzu, Lemyentha and Nandamannya before heading to the riverside pier. Board a local boat for a slow cruise down the Irrawaddy River. As you cruise the waters, observe the lifestyle of the fishermen and villagers and enjoy the unique view of Bagan’s temples. Return to your hotel in the evening.
Overnight in Bagan.
After breakfast, drive to the Nyaung U Airport for your flight to Yangon and upon arrival, transfer to Yangon International Airport for your next flight.
