This afternoon, take a tour around the city centre with various historical and colonial buildings partly by car or partly on foot. Visit the Sule Pagoda, a 2200-year-old temple, Maha bandula Park where the Independent Monument stands, pass City Hall, Little India and Little China. Continue to Bogyoke Market, formerly known as Scott’s Market, and browse through the wide selection of Myanmar handicrafts and other goods (Note: closed on Mondays and public holidays).
Next, visit Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda, topped by a crown encrusted with diamonds and other precious stones. It houses one of Myanmar's more beautiful reclining buddhas, with feet carved with traditional symbols. End your day at Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the Wonders of the World, built 2500 years ago and enshrined with hair relics of Buddha. Enjoy breath-taking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point.

After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Bagan (Nyaung Oo) on the banks of the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River. It is home to the largest and densest concentration of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas and ruins in the world, many dating from the 11th and 12th centuries.
Visit an elevated temple for a panoramic view of the magnificent plains of Bagan. Next, visit the golden Shwezigon Pagoda, a prototype monument, built in Myanmar style in 1087, Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple, Wetkyi-Inn Village well-known for its exquisite jataka mural paintings. Also visit the elegant Htilominlo Temple noted for its fine plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations.
In the afternoon, visit a traditional lacquerware workshop, and continue to Ananda Temple, an architectural masterpiece built in the early Mon-style. It contains two unique Buddha images whose expressions seem to change depending on the distance from which the statue is viewed. Travel by horse cart passing Thatbyinnyu, the highest temple in Bagan, the massive Dhammayangyi Temple, with remarkable brickwork and Sulamani Temple. Enjoy an unforgettable sunset over the plains from the upper terrace of one of the temples.

After breakfast, drive overland to Mandalay. Arrive in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel, check in and relax. The rest of the day is at leisure.

After breakfast, drive to Amarapura, the ‘City of Immortality’ a former capital. Visit a silk weaving workshop and then visit Mahagandayon monastery, where over 1000 monks reside.
In the afternoon, visit Mahamuni Pagoda’s 13ft high seated Buddha image which is one of Myanmar's most famous. Visit the Kuthodaw Pagoda, whose 729 marble stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures have earned it the title ‘World’s Biggest Book’. Continue to Shwenandaw Monastery, the only remaining building from the 19th century Royal Palace. This grand teak building is known for its exquisite woodcarving. Head to the top of Mandalay Hill to enjoy magnificent views of the city and Irrawaddy River.

After breakfast, drive to ancient Ava city and a remarkably rural backwater of empty fields sparsely dotted with widely spaced ruins, monastic buildings, and stupas. Explore Ava by plodding horse cart to visit Bagaya Kyaung (a wonderful teak monastery), Maha Aungmye Bonzan monastery (built of stucco-covered brick, royal monastery temple) and Nanmyin (a leaning watchtower of Ava).
Return to dry land by boat and take a drive to Sagaing by crossing a bridge over the Irrawaddy River. Uncountable white-and-gold stupas are highlights of Sagaing. Sagaing Hill is widely regarded as the religious center of Myanmar. It is home to 3,000 monks and 100 meditation centres and you will visit pagodas such as Swan Oo Pon Nya Shin and U Min Thone Sae. We’ll also visit Sagaing’s local market, a typical Burmese market that few tourists visit. Here you will find a range of items for sale including locally made pottery, silver, and other handicrafts. We will also stop at a small pottery village to see the process of making the ubiquitous water pots found throughout Myanmar. After touring this tranquil site, continue to U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest and 200-year-old teak bridge. Enjoy a stroll along the bridge and the fabulous views of the surrounding farms and streams.

After breakfast, drive to Mandalay Airport for the flight to Yangon and upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. (Early check-in subjected to room availability). Today is free visit day in Yangon where your car and guide will be at your hands for any additional sightseeing or shopping that you may wish to do. Then, you will continue to Bogyoke Market, formerly known as Scott’s Market, where you can browse through the wide selection of Myanmar handicrafts and other goods (Note: closed on Mondays and public holidays).
