Overview: Situated in the largest conservation area in Africa - the Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei is an enormous clay pan surrounded by gigantic, red sand dunes which change in shape and texture due to the fierce desert winds. The dunes come together here, preventing the Tsauchab River to flow any further. The best time to see the sand dunes is at sunrise or sunset.
Overview: Nicknamed the "Matterhorn of Namibia", the Spitzkoppe is a group of bald granite peaks created by the collapse of a gigantic volcano100 million years ago. See the many bizarre rock formations and several San (Bushman) paintings found in various places.
