Moscow and St Petersburg Holiday – 8 days
Day 1: Moscow
Arrive in Moscow. Meet with guide and coach in the airport. Transfer to the hotel and check in. The day is at leisure to explore this city on your own. Overnight.
Day 2: Moscow – City Tour
Breakfast. Depart for excursions with guide and coach. In the morning enjoy the city tour of Moscow with plenty of photo stops at the most famous sights: Poklonnaya Hill, New Maiden Convent, Vorobievy Hills. Drive by Tverskaya street, Manezhnaya Square, Ohotny Riad, Bolshoi Theatre, Lubyanka Square, Savior Cathedral, the Kremlin and Kropotkinskaya embankments etc (no entrances). Walk along the promenade of old Arbat Street, for shopping and stop for lunch on your own. You will have some time to yourself followed by tour of the Moscow Metro, one of the most exciting stations in Europe. Return to the hotel in the evening. Overnight.
Day 3: Moscow
Breakfast. Depart for excursions with guide and coach. Walk on Red Square with view of St.Basil Cathedral and proceed for the excursion of the Kremlin, with cathedrals. The Kremlin has always been the centre of political life. The tsars' coronation ceremony took place in one of the cathedrals. All tsars before Peter the Great are buried there. You can also visit the Armory Chamber (optional) or the Diamond fund (optional). Lunch on your own. Return to the hotel at around 3pm. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight.
Day 4: Moscow – Sergiev Posad - St. Petersburg
Breakfast. Check out and leave your bags at the hotel. In the afternoon, proceed for Sergiev Posad. Sergiev Posad's fame rests on the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergii (a Lavra is the highest rank of Orthodox monastery, and there are only four in all Russia), the Russian Orthodox equivalent of the Vatican, which has a complex of medieval buildings to rival those of the Kremlin. This includes the tour of the Trinity Sergii Lavra. Free time for shopping and return to the hotel. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and then transfer to Leningradsky railway station to board your night train to St. Petersburg. Overnight on board.
Day 5: St. Petersburg – City Tour
Arrive in St Petersburg early morning. You will be met by your guide and coach at the train station. Transfer to a local restaurant for breakfast. Proceed for the tour of St. Petersburg. See the major places of interest, architectural and historical sights and monuments like the Palace Square and The Winter Palace (a former residence of Russian Tsars), S. Isaac's Square (Monument to Nicholas I), the Summer Garden, the Marble Palace, the Church of Our Savior (outside view only), a beautiful view of St Peter & Paul Fortress, the Hermitage and the Admiralty. Transfer to your hotel for check in. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight.
Day 6: St. Petersburg – Hermitage Tour & Peter and Paul's Fortress
Breakfast. Depart for a full day tour of the Hermitage in the morning and post lunch (lunch on your own) for a tour of Peter and Paul's Fortress. The Hermitage Museum houses one of the most impressive art collections in the world and also in three other majestic buildings along the Neva River embankment - Small Hermitage, Old Hermitage and New Hermitage. This tour will take you to see the major places of interests; like Palace Square, the Winter Palace (former residence of Russian Tsars), St. Isaac's Square (monument to Nicholas I), Decembrists' Square, the Square of Arts, the Field of Mars, the Summer Garden, the Marble Palace, Michael's Castle, the Church of Our Savior (outside) and more. You will also pass by Nevsky Prospect - the main boulevard of St Petersburg.
After lunch on your own proceed to St Peter & Paul Fortress, the first structure in St Petersburg, built to protect Peter the Great's northern city from the threat of Swedish attacks. It is now the emblem of the city and the resting place of many of the Romanov dynasty. Return to the hotel. Rest of the evening is at leisure. Overnight.
Day 7: St. Peterburg - Tsarskoe Selo
Breakfast. Depart by coach for our excursion to Tsarskoe Selo, where Winter Palace and Ekaterina's Palace are the most visited sites. The park in front of Catherine's Palace received new pavilions and was reconstructed in English style. The Amber room is a must visit. Amber room has sometimes been dubbed as the eighth wonder of the world.
Lunch on your own. Afternoon is at leisure. Spend your time at the promenade along Nevskij Prospekt, view the Cathedral of Our Savior on the Blood or shop. In the evening return to the hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight.
Day 8: St. Peterburg
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
