Arrive at Colombo International Airport, to a warm welcome by our representative. Drive to Bentota on the south-west coast, at the confluence of the sea and the Bentota River. With a sun-drenched location and golden, palm-fringed beaches, bordering the warm, sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean, Bentota was the first tourist resort. Recognised globally as a highly attractive holiday location with a wide and varied choice of distinctive hotels to suit every taste and purse, Bentota has a full range of tourist amenities, delicious seafood, and popular water sports centres that offer boating, water skiing, jet skiing, snorkelling, and wind surfing.

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Madhu River, which flows across Balapitiya (approx 80 km south of Colombo), one of the rarely visited and unspoiled attractions any nature lover can find in Sri Lanka. Madhu River has a cluster of 64 small islands scattered along her path, most of which are uninhabited and covered with mangroves. The smallest islet is called “Satha Paha Doowa”, where there is a tiny shrine with a statue built in respect of the gods of Kataragama (Katharagama). According to folklore, this islet was purchased for five cents, but some claim the name comes from the shape of the five-cent coin. But over-thrilled visitors are forewarned—the Madhu River is also a known den for crocodiles. Enroute stop by the Turtle hatchery, unique to Bentota.
Overnight.
After breakfast, drive to Negombo a major beach resort on the west coast. The wide sandy beaches and the safe sea are its main attractions. Check in at your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a city tour of Negombo, a traditional fishing town. The most popular fishing craft is the outrigger canoe called the oruwa, dug out from a huge log and seen in large numbers in the Negombo lagoon.
