Catherine Palace & Pushkin Park

Overview: Tsarskoye Selo (formerly known as Pushkin) is one of St. Petersburg's numerous Imperial estates. Located just 25 kilometers south of St Petersburg, the estate boasts a large landscape park, dotted with architectural follies, and centered on the magnificent blue, white and gold Catherine Palace that houses some beautiful Baroque interiors, including the luxurious Grand Hall and a long, gold, mirrored ballroom. The Palace also boasts a unique Amber Room, whose priceless amber panels were stolen by Nazi troops during WWII, but which are now being painstakingly recreated by Russian craftsmen.

Grand Palace & Peterhof Park

Overview: Peterhof is one of the oldest countryside residences of the Russian Tzars, world famous for its palaces and fountains and located by the shore of the Gulf of Finland. It is an outstanding example of palace architecture. There are 11 museums in Peterhof and you can also visit the small palaces (Cottage, Monplaisir, Marli, Hermitage, Catherine's pavilion and Bath pavilion). The Grand Palace was built by Peter the Great, initially as a resting place en route to the Imperial naval base at Kronshtadt. But the Tzar family was quick to recognize the attractiveness of the area and masterminded a vast estate intended to rival the famous gardens of Versailles in France.

Palace & Pavlovsk Park

Overview: Pavlovsk is St. Petersburg's historical Imperial estate and lies just 29 kilometers from the city. Named after Paul I, who received the park grounds as a gift from his mother Catherine the Great in 1777, Pavlovsk is home to the Grand Palace and hundreds of acres of densely forested parkland.

Much of Pavlovsk's charm is derived from its wonderful landscape park. Located along the picturesque valley of the Slavyanka River, the extensive park is dotted with small pavilions and architectural follies, including the Temple of Friendship, the Colonnade of Apollo, the Pavilion of the Three Graces, the Dairy Farm and the Rose Pavilion. The dense Birch forest that fills the park, as well as the numerous inter-linking paths and the brooks and tributary streams of the Slavyanka that cover it make the park a wonderful setting for a long walk and gives the visitor a taste of the Russian countryside.

Russian Folklore Show at the Nikolaevsky Palace

Overview: The evening begins in the Nikolaevsky Palace restaurant where you discover traditional Russian dance and music during an elegant reception. There is no doubt; without the folk show "Feel yourself Russian" your visit to Russia wouldn't be complete. The show consists of two parts.

The show starts with the dance group "Reverance", the beautiful ladies in their crinolines and the elegant cavalier, accompanied by the "Classica" string quartet. It is followed by a folk instruments ensemble "The Souvenir" with their brilliant performance of folk compositions. Then a Cossack song and dance company "Maidan" reproduces on stage Cossack songs and dances in their original form. The skilful musicians of "Naigrysh", a folk instruments quartet, perform versions of the famous Russian tunes and the folk music of various nationalities. The dancers of "Petersburg Stars" have their own repertoire: dancing miniatures of the Urals and Siberia.

In the intermission, refreshments will be served. Enjoy a buffet table of fruit, canapés with red and black caviar, ham, smoked sausage, cheeses, soft drinks, Russian vodka, champagne, mineral water, and juice. During the interval, classical music known worldwide is performed by a string quartette.
