Overview: A unique opportunity to appreciate the Martin borough wine village in the famous Wairarapa region. Enjoy the journey by train from Wellington Railway Station to Featherstone. You will be met at Featherstone Railway Station by your Gourmet Wine Escape coach driver and taken to Martin borough Region to start the Winery Tour. Your driver guide will give you a full of commentary about the Martin borough region and local wines. Visit four different Martin borough vineyards for wine tasting. A lunch at a local cafe is included. Then visit the remainder of selected vineyards. Finally, visit the Martin borough Wine Centre where you can taste further wines or tea/coffee with a delicious cheese platter. Board the Tranz Metro Train service to the Capital City - Wellington. (Due to the nature of the tour, minimum age for this tour is 16 years old however if you would like to take your children, please contact us. Enjoy an exhilarating four-wheel drive journey to Red Rocks on the Seal Coast, south of the city. You'll drive across a live active fault line, over rock beachfront and around headlands to visit a captivating colony of fur seals, sprawled over the rust-colored rocks. See the Tasman Sea meet the Pacific Ocean, the waters of Cook Strait separating the North and South Islands, and the distant mountain ranges of the South.
There's time to relax and enjoy a delicious bistro lunch in one of Wellington's cafe society venues with brilliant panoramic views over the harbor capital.
After lunch go on an invigorating bush walk in NZ's only botanic garden dedicated solely to native plants. Venture through safe native bush trails and plant collections, including several 400-year old trees. This botanic garden is a haven for native birds like the Tui, Kereru, Silver Eye, Kingfisher, Grey Warbler, Bell Birds and Morepork amongst the giants of the forest. Your guide will entertain you with fascinating stories of New Zealand bush lore.
