Zimbabwe Highlights - 8 days
Day 1: Arrive Victoria Falls – Hwange National Park
On arrival at Victoria Falls, you will connect by scheduled charter flight of an hour onto Hwange. Arrive at your camp which is situated in the Linkwasha Concession, a remote north-eastern corner of Hwange National Park. The camp overlooks an extremely productive waterhole that attracts a variety of plains game and predators.Nestled in a grove of beautiful false mopane trees and offers the quintessential Hwange safari camp experience. After your check in and freshen up, you will meet your ranger for your evening game activity. Overnight.
Day 2: Hwange National Park
Breakfast. Today will be a full day experiencing this game area with various game activities, these include game drives or guided walks in the early mornings and evenings, while during the siesta hours, you will be able to view game from your tent deck, as thirsty wildlife comes down to the waterhole to drink. There are a number of large, open plains areas which make for excellent game viewing; in summer, wildebeest, zebra and eland are found in abundance here, while in winter the waterholes are magnets around which elephant in enormous numbers congregate to drink. Overnight.
Day 3: Hwange - Kariba
Breakfast. Morning is at leisure and we shall depart Hwange by light aircraft to Lake Kariba on scheduled flight where you will be met by our representative. A 20-minute boat transfer across the lake will deliver you to your camp. Changa Safari Camp is a luxury tented camp situated on the shores of Lake Kariba in a private 5km2 concession in the north-eastern section of the Matusadona National Park, with magnificent views looking out across Hydro Bay towards the Matusadona Mountains. Time permitting you may still be able to do the late afternoon game activity. Or relax at your camp. Overnight.
Day 4: Matusadona National Park – Kariba
Breakfast. There are a host of mammals and birds present in this diverse habitat. Leopard, lion, hyena and cheetah are found here, as well as elephant, hippo and a multitude of antelope species. The area is a walker's paradise; early morning or late afternoon walks in the company of one of the camp's professional guides are a special feature. Game drives or cruises also take place; fishing on Kariba is also available. Your rooms all overlook Lake Kariba. Overnight.
Day 5: Kariba - Great Rift Valley
Breakfast. Today you will be able to still enjoy the camps facilities and activities before catching your short flight at 16h50 from Kariba to arrive at the Mana West Airstrip at 17h35 (subject to change). On arrival you will be met and transferred to your camp. The camp is idyllically located, overlooking the Zambezi River and the imposing Great African Rift Valley. The camp is situated in an exclusive concession of Mana Pools National Park, in the heart of the Zambezi Valley. All the tents have excellent views of the Zambezi River and the escarpment beyond and the camp boasts an outdoor bath-with-a-view in a secluded, scenic spot. Overnight.
Day 6: Mana Pools National Park
Breakfast. The next two days are spent in an intoxicating blend of wildlife and bird species. The dry season sees large herds of elephant and buffalo together with hippo, waterbuck, kudu, nyala and eland all seeking to slake their thirst along the banks of the mighty Zambezi. Predators follow with lions frequenting the floodplains and adjacent woodland, while leopard stalk the thickets. Cheetah and endangered wild dog are also often seen. Early morning walks with an experienced guide, morning and afternoon game drives, night drives and canoeing will be the selection of activities you can do at this camp. Overnight.
Day 7: At Leisure
Today enjoy a full day at leisure. You may like to do some additional sightseeing, shopping, or simply relax. Overnight.
Day 8: Mana Pools National Park - Harare
Breakfast. Today is your return flight to Harare for your onward journey.
