Breakfast. Enjoy a tour of Nicosia, capital of Cyprus and the only remaining divided capital in the world. The contrast of the old and new is most evident in Nicosia, with its modern architecture and old city within the 16th century Venetian ramparts.
Visit the Handicraft Centre to see traditional folk art and craft skills and buy handmade items. Proceed to the Archaeological Museum housing artifacts going back to 7000 BC. Next stop ‘Laiki Gitonia’, the restored commercial quarter of the old city where you can stroll around and visit the picturesque shops selling traditional items. You may also visit the “Green Line” area which represents the last divided capital of the world. Have lunch at a traditional tavern and go shopping. Return to your hotel. Overnight.
Breakfast. Drive by coach or jeep through the pine-clad Troodos Mountains, wine country and villages, enjoying panoramic views of the north-west coast. The tour’s highlight is a visit to Cyprus’ most famous and richest monastery, Kykkos Monastery founded in the 12th century. It houses the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary which was apparently painted by St. Luke. The monastery also produces its own wines and spirits and is a significant place of pilgrimage for the Greek Orthodox world.
Drive to Omodhos, a traditional wine producing village (700m high) to visit the monastery of the “Holy Cross” where St. Helen left pieces of the Holy Cross in the 4th century. Enjoy a traditional lunch at a beautiful village tavern, “Stou Kyr. Yianni.” Walk through the village square and the narrow streets, then visit Linos Press, an old wine press which is now a historical monument for wine tasting with some local delicacies. Return to your hotel. Overnight.
After breakfast, drive to Paphos following the breathtaking coastline to “Petra tou Romiou”, the legendary birthplace of the goddess of fertility, Aphrodite. This has been regarded as the gateway to Paphos for centuries! Upon arrival at the Old Harbor, enjoy a cruise in the Mediterranean waters with lunch on board. If there is enough time, visit the Mosaics next to the Old Harbor. Return to your hotel. Overnight.
Breakfast. Follow the breathtaking coastline to “Petra tou Romiou”, the gateway to Paphos for centuries! Visit the picturesque Paphos harbor, where the Roman residences are located including that of the Proconsul with outstanding floor mosaics recounting the stories from Greek mythology. Enjoy some free time at the harbor for lunch, a stroll and souvenir shopping! Visit the impressive necropolis, the so-called Tombs of the Kings, with its most interesting architecture evoking an element of mysticism. Return to your hotel. Overnight.
