Dharamshala is located in the district of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh. Upper Dharamshala is home to McLeodganj, official home of the Dalai Lama and a pilgrimage site for Tibetans. Renowned the world over for its distinctive blend of the Kangra and Tibetan culture, Dharamshala is one of the most frequented tourist places in India.

Day 1: Dharamshala

On arrival at the Dharamshala Kangra Airport, you will be met and driven to Dharamshala (approx. 14 kms). Check in to the hotel and relax. Evening at leisure.

Day 2: Dharamshala – Tushita Meditation Centre Naddi - McLeodganj

After breakfast drive to Tushita Meditation Centre, Dharamkot to attend the morning meditation drop in class at 0900 hrs (not held on Sundays). Tushita is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism from the Tibetan Mahayana tradition. It is located in the forested hills above the town of McLeodganj, – the seat in exile of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

After an hour’s meditation enjoy a beautiful walk to Naddi. This walk is the fusion of nature, culture and religion. After crossing Dharamkot village enter the dense forest of cedar, oak and rhododendron. Cross through the retreat huts of Tibetan monks. Spend some time there to soak in the spiritual atmosphere.

Naddi is a traditional tribal village of the Gaddi people. It offers a superb view of the Dhauladhar mountain range in the lower Himalayas. See the traditional houses and people working in their fields. Spend the afternoon in McLeodganj and visit the Geden Choeling nunnery for the evening pooja ceremony.

Day 3: Dharamshala – Bhagsu Meditation – Norbulingka Institute & McLeodganj

Morning drive to Bhagsu to attend the Yoga class at 0800 hrs.

After doing yoga for an hour or so drive back to the hotel for breakfast. Later drive to lower Dharamshala to visit Norbulingka Institute which is the Centre for preserving Tibetan art like thangka painting, applique thangka, wooden and metal works etc. Lunch at Norbulingka.

Drive back to McLeodganj to visit the old St. Johns Church in the wilderness and then go for a Kora walk. This is a religious circular walk through the Dalai Lama temple. See the Tibetan monks, nuns and many people walking with their rosary and hand wheels and chanting hymns. Later visit the Dalai Lama temple.

Evening free in McLeodganj market.

Overnight at your hotel in Dharamsala.

Day 4: Dharamshala

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to the Airport or railway station.
