Chiang Rai & Chiang Mai – 4 Days
Day 1: Chiang Rai

Arrive at Chiang Rai airport, where you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Check in. Chiang Rai is the northernmost major city in Thailand and the gateway to the mythical Golden Triangle.

This evening, pick up from your hotel for a 2-hour TukTuk tour within the city area. Pass the King Mengrai Monument, dedicated to the king who founded Chiang Rai in 1262, see the Golden Clock Tower nearby. Every evening at 20:00 and 21:00 the clock tower comes alive with a sound and light show. Next, visit the fresh food market and then the famous Chiang Rai Night Market. It has a restaurant and classical dance performances (own expense). Return to your hotel.

Day 2: Chiang Rai - River Cruise - Chiang Mai

Breakfast. Head to Mae Sai, a bustling border metropolis on the northern border of Myanmar and Thailand. Shop for some Myanmar products. The borders of Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand follow the Golden Triangle and run along the Mekong River to the House of Opium, a small museum that tells stories of opium in the Golden Triangle. Lunch at a nearby restaurant. Board a motorboat and cruise on the Mekong River. Return to the Van Dem (Black House) art gallery dedicated to drama and black tones. Transfer to your hotel in Chiang Mai.

Day 3: Chiang Mai - City Tour

Breakfast. Chiang Mai has many beautiful and historic Buddhist temples. Visit the most interesting, like the 600-year-old temple of Wat Pra That Doi Suthep, near the summit of Doi Suthep. After a drive up the mountain`s winding road, the final climb to the site is via a magnificent Naga (dragon-headed serpent) staircase of 306 steps. Inside, see the intriguing copper-plated chedi topped by a five-tier gold umbrella containing partial relics of Lord Buddha. Admire the views over the city of Chiang Mai. Visit Wat Suan Dok whose large central stupa contains a Buddha relic and where the ashes of Chiang Mai`s Royal Family are interred; Wat Chedi Luang where the Emerald Buddha was once enshrined; Wat Phra Singh, housing a very sacred 1,500-year-old Buddha image. Return to your hotel.

Overnight.

Day 4: Chiang Mai

After breakfast, transfer to the Chiang Mai airport for your onward flight.
