Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: ARRIVAL & WEST COAST STAY
Arrive at Roland Garros Airport (RUN), complete car rental formalities, and proceed towards the west coast—preferred stay areas include Saint-Gilles-les-Bains or La Saline-les-Bains. This region offers the best beaches and calm lagoons on the island. Ideal for relaxation after a long journey.
DAY 2: MAÏDO & MAFATE VIEWS
Drive early morning to Maïdo (sunrise recommended) for breathtaking panoramic views over the Cirque de Mafate.
Optional: Short hike along the ridge trails. Mafate is unique as it’s accessible only by foot or helicopter.
DAY 3: SCENIC DRIVE TO CILAOS
Drive via the famous “400 bends” road to Cilaos.
Highlights:
- Traditional embroidery
- Local lentils (a must-try specialty)
- Dramatic mountain landscapes
DAY 4: EXPLORE CILAOS
Visit La Roche Merveilleuse for panoramic views of the cirque.

DAY 5: VOLCANO – PITON DE LA FOURNAISE

DAY 6: SOUTH COAST & WATERFALLS
Explore the wild south, known as Sud Sauvage.
Must-visit:
- Grand Galet waterfall
- Natural pools of the Langevin River
This region offers a raw volcanic coastline and lush greenery.
DAY 7: LAGOON RELAXATION & DEPARTURE
Spend your final day at Hermitage Lagoon.
