Patagonia Highlights – 10 Days
Day 1: Buenos Aires

Arrive at Ezeiza International Airport where your guide will meet and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Buenos Aires - City Tour

Breakfast. Visit the magnificent Northern Quarters, Palermo’s beautiful parks and buildings, Recoleta with its French-style architecture, bars and cafes; the imposing Colon Theater, Plaza de Mayo surrounded by Government House (The Pink House), The Old Cabildo (Town Hall) and the Metropolitan Cathedral; San Telmo, residence of the former aristocracy; colourful La Boca, the picturesque quarter of Italian immigrants and the fashion area of Puerto Madero with its many chic bars & restaurants. Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3: Buenos Aires - Puerto Madryn - Full day Punta Tombo Tour

Breakfast. Early pick up and transfer to Aeroparque for your flight to Trelew Airport. Upon arrival your guide will welcome you. Drive 123 kms to Punta Tombo to visit the Penguin Rockery, the largest penguin nesting ground in continental South America. Magellan Penguins gather in colony of about three million specimens. See the beautiful penguins and the big elephant-seals, bird – like rock cormorants, giant petrels, kelp gulls and black oyster catchers. Penguins can be spotted from September to April so if you plan your trip off-season, you will visit Trelew City and its Paleontological Museum which displays fossils and documentation that give proof of the habitat and habits of prehistoric animals, especially dinosaurs.

Your last stop is Puerto Madryn, where your guide will help you to check-in at your hotel.

Day 4: Puerto Madryn - Peninsula Valdes Tour

After an early breakfast enjoy a full day tour to Peninsula Valdes, one of the finest wildlife reserves in South America and a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. Southern Right Whales arrive and stay from June to December. See sea lions, sea elephants, seals, guanacos, rheas and many seabirds on the beaches and headlands.

The peninsula is made up of two gulfs: San José Gulf and Nuevo Gulf. At San José Gulf is Los Pájaros Island, accessible by walking at low tide. It is home to all species of southern birds. The Nuevo Gulf is ideal for diving due to its deep and quiet waters. Return to your hotel.

Day 5: Puerto Madryn - Ushuaia, “end of the world”

After breakfast, depart early for the airport to board your flight down to Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city, the capital of Tierra del Fuego and a gateway to Antarctica. Upon arrival, meet your experienced guide for transfer to your hotel.

Your afternoon is at leisure walk around on your own – see the End of the World Museum, and/or the Old Penitentiary Museum, enjoy a local dish of delicious king crab.

Day 6: Ushuaia - Tierra del Fuego National Park

Breakfast. Visit the Tierra del Fuego National Park, the only one with a maritime coast. Within its 63,000 hectares are fire-bushes, beech trees, ñires, box-leafed barberries and profusions of flowers. Cross the Lapataia River, enjoy a magnificent view of Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon) and the upland geese and ibis in summer. Walk up to Laguna Negra (Black Lagoon) or the Beavers’ Path to take photos. At Lapataia Bay, seean archaeological site of the original inhabitants. Return to Ushuaia, with a brief stop at Lake Roca. The afternoon is free.

Optional Tour:Sail along the Beagle Channel and visit Seal and Bird Islands, the penguin rockery and Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse.

Day 7: Ushuaia - El Calafate

Breakfast. Check out. Fly from Ushuaia to El Calafate, a cozy little Patagonian village on the shore of Lake Argentino. El Calafate is the gateway to the Glaciers National Park. Arrive and meet your guide for transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to explore on your own.

Day 8: El Calafate - Perito Moreno Glacier

Breakfast. Today, see the spectacular Perito Moreno Glacier, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Spend approx 4 hrs walking along the various pathways. Framed by dramatic mountains, lakes and forests. It owes its fame to its continuous movement, which produces a cyclical phenomenon of advance and backward motion, causing awe-inspiring periods of ice-toppling. Return to your hotel.

Day 9: El Calafate - Buenos Aires

Breakfast. Transfer to El Calafate Airport to return to Buenos Aires and your comfortable city hotel. Enjoy a night out taking in the many shops, art galleries, bars, restaurants, and discotheques.

Day 10: Buenos Aires

Breakfast. Transfer to Ezeiza International Airport to board your next flight.
